The storm finally wrested control of the sky, shedding the afternoon's first lonely tear. It splashed against Remus' brow and his eyes flicked upwards. Pulling his cloak more snugly around himself, he figured that it was about time for him to end this silly battle of words. Returning to the castle angry, exhausted, and soaked was just one affliction too many.
Remus did not respond to the trespassing remark. As he had already explained, he had been on special business on behalf of the school. Whether or not it was a lie, Remus supposed that there was some truth to his excuse. He did, however, raise his eyebrows at the mention of the student's name. He was indeed familiar with the Gostislav family, as he had gone through a long period of interest in wizard history. No wonder he was so self-assured and insufferably proud.
Moments later, another student emerged from the foggy landscape. The surrounding area was already obscured by the dawning storm, and more fat raindrops followed the first. This was a friend of Danijel's, apparently, as he quickly accepted the shelter of the umbrella. After their displeasing first meeting, Remus was sure that the Gostislav boy's affections were not easily won.
"My pleasure," he replied tautly, watching Danijel leave. They were heading off in the same direction as he, but Remus refused to follow the pair back to the castle too closely. He had endured one unpleasant remark too many, and was perfectly happy waiting alone in the rain for them to get a decent head start. He stared up at the sky, watching the swarm of limpid beads surge forth from steadily darkening clouds. After a moment of reflection, he returned his attention to the two students making their way back to the school. They were barely smudges against the trees.
Feeling that it was about time, Remus followed again the path he had started upon before the unsavory encounter. Hopefully, he thought irritatedly, the reunion will not come too soon.
