Another Year Begins [OPEN]

Lucius loathed the start of school rush. Many of his classmates graduated the previous year and he was left to suffer through his final year without much distraction. After unloading his possessions in his room, Lucius sauntered to the main common room and found a seat near the fire place. All attempts to drown out the incoming first years had failed. They were everywhere. Bright eyed and anxious, their stares irritated him. What little patience he had mustered during the train ride was now gone. Locking himself in his room wasn't an option, yet listening to the endless banter was driving him insane. 

Where was a familiar face when he needed one?

Lucius cast a gaze around the room and frowned. Taking up one of the books from a nearby table, he settled for reading about...

"What the bloody hell is this?" he muttered to himself, nose turning up with disgust. The muggle studies book slipped from his fingers onto the floor. If he found out what first year signed up for the class he would make sure they ended up in detention as soon as possible. 

Heaving an irritated sigh, Lucius slouched back into the chair and closed his eyes. This was going to be a long year.

[Monika L. Mystar]

This would be her seventh year in this terrible place. this place of rules, mudbloods, and half-breeds. however. today was especially bad due to all the new first year's running around trying to get settled. For a moment, she was glad her room wasn't filled with them and for that moment only she was glad only seventh years were. that moment came and went when she realized a first year attempting to talk to her. Her face twisted into a snarl as the child soon backed away. She didn't have time for this. scratch that, she did have time for it but didn't want time for it. 

Often these past years, she never wore her uniform giving the excuse that they were dirty or she didn't have time to wash them.  she did however wear a little Slytherin emblem on her breast. moving down to the common room, there were even more first years running around. Someone caught her eye, the corner of it to be exact. Lucius, who had just dropped a muggle studies book. she chuckled softly. "To be honest. I am very surprised your hand didn't fall off. " her voice was soft sounding but loud enough to reach his ears due to the fact she wasn't that far. but it was really his choice to if he was listening or not.

A familiar voice met his ear and Lucius turned and glanced over his shoulder. Before him stood Monika Mystar. She wasn't at the top of his list of people to talk to but she would do. Anything to drown out the high pitched squeals of the other students was a welcomed distraction.

Lucius' brow rose curiously before he beckoned Monika to take a seat with a slight tilt of his head.

"Yes, well. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. That could very well still happen."

A tiny smirk played on his lips as he gazed at the girl. "This is turning into a fantastic year. Isn't it?" he asked, words overflowing with sarcasm that he practically drooled. "At least it's our last."

Lucius nudged the tainted book aside with his foot and crossed his legs as he leaned back in his chair.

Monika gladly took across from him. lightly placing herself in the seat, crossing her legs and lastly placing her hands on her thighs. A soft laugh escaped her lips as she thought about what it would be like if Lucius's hand just caught on fire all of a sudden, as a delayed reaction from touching the awful book.

she leaned to the right slightly, resting her elbow on the chair as a smirk grew on her face. "Just fantastic. I am very excited." the sarcasm she used could cut stone. her eyes moved from Lucius to the table in front of her. "How was your vacation for this place? Filled with torturing mudbloods and muggles I hope." She laughed again at her joke.

Lucius sighed and leaned to the side, propping his cheek against his fist. "I did nothing worth mentioning. We spent a large majority of the summer is Madrid at my grandmother's estate. Rather boring." He waved the dull event away from memory. The entire summer was spent meeting and greeting old people with monetary connections. His family was far from poor, but the way his parents went about themselves this summer...he'd rather not think of it. He would never tell anyone that being within Hogwarts, even with its ratty, cracked and scum-ridden walls, was his true vacation. He didn't have to please anyone here-only himself.

Lucius gazed at Monika, letting his gaze dance across her flawless face. He wasn't entirely oblivious to the glow the light seemed to cast on her smooth skin. Beautiful women within arm's reach. Another reason he didn't mind being back at school.

"And yours? More eventful I hope."

Monika's long names rested on her chin. listening to the rather boring event he had went though this summer. Elder people weren't terrible to spend time with if you had the right attitude about it. "That doesn't sound terrible. boring yes, but it could have been worse. " the thought of her summer excited her when she compared it to his. she was actually excited to tell him. "My summer went will, My family and I went to a family reunion in Iceland. a once in a lifetime trip." Iceland had been a lot of fun. Her favorite parts were the green lights in the sky.

"But other than that, My younger sister received her letter as well. which is wonderful. now there are three Mystar's running around this place." at first she sounded sincere about her sister but it grew to sarcasm when she remember her cousin Atalie.

The thought of three Mystar sister running about was enough to make Lucius' stomach churn. While he didn't mind Monika's presence all that much; when she wasn't doing something foolish, of course, having two potentially crazy sister's circulating around the school was a bit much. It was almost as overwhelming as the Black family. If Monika's youngest sister was anything like Bellatrix the school was in for trouble. Bella made his own antics around school seem elementary. Then again, he didn't pride himself on torturing others for senseless reasons. He was more motivated by potential rewards for his efforts.

The corners of Lucius' lips twisted upward into an amused sneer. "How is your dearest cousin...Atalie, right? Is she enjoying her time in Gryffindor among the other rodents?"

Monika's sister wasn't terrible, but she was only eleven and a Slytherin. she also wasn't crazy which was a good thing to be honest. When Lucius asked about Atalie, her face grew disgusted. Atalie was a shame upon the family... or at least that's how she felt. as much as Monika hated Atalie, they were family so they had to tolerate each other until at least Monika was out of hogwarts and on her own.

"I can only assume she just loves it there. all the mudbloods she can befrien- Oh, Annalina, come here."

her words took a change for the better when a young first year caught her eye. The little girl was short with a slightly darker shade of blonde hair. The girl almost seemed ecstatic to be called over. "Yes Moni?" such a high pitched voice for a girl. "Do you know who that muggle studies book belongs too?" Monika watched her sister's face as she thought. " I thought I saw Issac Manary put it down a bit ago..." her voice made it sound like she 100% sure of it. Monika smiled lightly and nodded. "Lucius, This is my sister, Annalina this is Lucius Malfoy." It would have been rude not to introduce them she felt.

Lucius' attention was unwillingly pried away from Monika and forced upon her sister. She was petite as were all the first years. The way she looked at her sister was akin to adoration, bordering on obsession. At least that was the conclusion Lucius drew after watching them interact.

When introductions were made, Lucius nodded his head slightly in welcome. "The similarity is uncanny. If I didn't know any better I'd think you were twins." Why he chose to flatter either of them was uncertain, but the words flowed from his lips like oil across water.

"Join us, Annalina," he said, gesturing to the seat beside her sister. He met Monika's gaze and offered a quaint smile before turning his attention back to her younger sister. "I'm sure you're pleased to have been sorted in Slytherin. We were just talking about your cousin who, unfortunately, wasn't as lucky."

Monika smiled lightly. She was flattered but as was her sister. Annalina said nothing in return, due to the fact that she was almost painfully shy and couldn't get the words to come out of her mouth. It was a shame really but in do time she would grow out of it. hopefully.

Monika's eyes shifted from her sister to Lucius's when he invited her to join them. Of course, she would have no problem with that but Annalina probably would not have very much fun. "Annalina, you are always welcome to join. but if you do not want to. that is just fine." Monika held her sisters hand for a moment. "and you and I know how you need to work on talking with males." she added before patting her sisters hand. Annalina's face was just frozen there wasn't any real emotion on it. but her body language gave off a sense of wanting to leave. she barely was able to even nodded in agreement with Lucius about Atalie before looking at Monika. "You are excused if you'd like to be" and with that, Annalina was gone.

"Please excuse that, I thought maybe she had grown out of it. she had or well.. still has this problem talking around males. I'm not entirely sure why though..."
