Emily strode out across the grounds, her arms across her chest. Where most people would have appreciated the cool breeze of approaching autumn, she instead seemed to be against it. Her cheeks turned pink easily, and so by the time she reached her tree of choice, they were rather rosy. It wasn't that she was mad, per say, it was just the way she walked: as if she was angry at the world. She pulled out her books and a quill, anxious to knock off the essay that was just assigned that wasn't due for weeks. Emily was the type who just wanted to get it out of the way.
Emily surveyed the grounds and took in the colour slowly creeping into the leaves of the forest. There didn't seem to be many people around. She supposed they were all busy socializing indoors with each other, hidden in behind closed common room doors. Emily looked back to her parchment, and she tapped her quill impatiently.
It wasn't long, however, before she saw a shadow fall over her school work. She let out a long, impatient sigh.
"Can I help you?" she asked, irritably, without even looking up.

Unlike most students within Hogwarts, Remus enjoyed the grassy, rolling hills of the grounds to the sturdy stones of castle floors. Whenever possible he would venture out onto the grounds for a short walk before retreating to the library to study. There were no watchful eyes here; no cackling girls and testosterone filled boys to reprimand. He could simply walk as far as the grounds allowed and be at peace; something that was becoming increasingly sparse with the full moon approaching.
Carrying a quill and a scrap of parchment, Remus hunched his shoulder's forward and dropped his head to block the wind as he moved. He adored autumn weather. After a long, excruciating summer of smothering heat, the cool, tranquil breeze of Scotland was welcomed.
So lost in his thoughts, Remus wasn't aware of the girl's presence until he was literally standing right over her. Her words, while seemingly welcoming, were laced with malice. A slytherin girl, he supposed. They usually attacked first and talked later.
"Sorry to intrude," Remus said, his voice a bit huskier than usual. He cleared his throat and stepped around the tree to get a better look at the girl. He recognized her immediately. "I didn't know anyone would be out this far...usually no one is, given the weather."

Emily raised a hand to her brow to be able to look up at the voice who seemed to be rather polite considering who she was. Most people knew her on sight, and the way you treated people usually came back to you. Either he didn't know her well, or he was the type who was nice to everyone. She didn't get people like that, and she found it rather annoying. It was usually a two-way street.
It took Emily a moment for recognition to come to her. She was the type who usually didn't pay attention to those around her, and when she went somewhere she focused on that. She was also frightfully arrogant, and believed everyone knew her name but couldn't be bothered to do the same to others.
He readjusted himself so he was easier to see, so Emily was free to drop her hand. "Scar boy, right? The one who follows that Gryffindor Chaser and company?" she damned well knew Potter's name, but she was too stubborn to voice it. Maybe she read their group dynamic wrong, but she sort of pitied this one and the blondish boy. They chased after these irritably popular boys, and no one even seemed to look at those two. That was just Emily's reading of the situation. She frowned at him, clearly thinking of what sort of attitude to give. She sighed. "Isn't that a bonus?" she asked in reference to no one being around. "Go on, then. Sit."
It sounded more like an order than an invitation, but it was the closest she could bring herself to being friendly. She turned back to her school work and began tapping her quill on the parchment again, but couldn't think of what to write. "I'm Emily, by the way. Do you have a real name, other than Scar Boy?" she didn't know if he didn't know that's how a lot of people referred to him as, but she assumed he did. She knew a lot of the mean nicknames that floated around about her.

Remus raised a brow at the nick name and shrugged. "Can't say I've heard that one before." He gave a mock frown. He hadn't intended to sit and intrude on the girl's space, but her invitation seemed genuine, although brash. Doing as he was told, Remus took a seat and settled his writing supplies in his lap. Pressing his back against the tree, he glanced down at the book in Emily's hands. That reminded him. He still had a few essays to write himself.
"My name is Remus Lupin. Nice to meet you Emily." Remus grimaced as his remembered all that he 'knew' about the girl. Emily had a bit of a reputation about the school. He didn't like to judge people based on hear say. That was done to his friends too often if you asked him. The marauder's weren't as bad as people made them seem. Sure, they got in a fair amount of trouble, but it was all in good fun.
Remus tucked his hands underneath his arms and angled himself to get a better look at the girl. Her cheeks and lips were cherry red and flushed.
"Are you sure you don't want to go inside where it's warm?" he asked. He was usually a bit warmer than most nearing the full moon. The cool air wasn't bothering him half as much as it probably should.
