bellatrix blackIt was late just a little after midnight a Slytherin girl by the name of Bellatrix Black was sneaking around the corridors of Hogwarts. Well actually Bellatrix did not sneak that would mean that she was moving quietly, being stealthy which Bellatrix was not doing. As she walked down the corridor leading to the kitchen she was whistling a little tune that was stuck in her head. She was heading to the kitchen for one thing food, she had missed supper only because she was preoccupied with a few first years and making their day just a little more horrible. Bellatrix swung the door open and step inside. A small little house elf came running towards Bellatrix and asked her what she would like.
Bellatrix moved her head back and wrinkled up her nose at the filthy creature. She told the house elf to get her some soup and bread. Without another word Bellatrix sat at the small table in the corner while she waited. Before long the house elf brought Bellatrix what she wanted and set it in front of her. "Anything else?" The small voice came. Bellatrix took out her wand and pointed it at the little house elf "This is cold! I should put a hex on you." She snapped. The little house elf widened even more and ran off. Bellatrix smiled she really was not going to hex the little thing just wanted to see how the house elf would reaction. "Ouch!" She looked down at the soup, Bellatrix knew full well that the soup was not cold but she did not expect it to be boiling hot.

It was widely known that Sirius wandered down to the kitchens to retrieve food for his hungry mates. He was ducked under the Invisibility Cloak, as James was busy struggling to understand something that Remus and Peter were repeatedly trying to teach him. James was a smart bloke, he probably would have it figured out by the time he came back. He tickled the pear that allowed him in to the kitchens and he tucked the Cloak into his pocket and out of sight. Immediately, the house elves came to his service. Sirius was always kind to them, mainly because they provided him with late night snacks. How could you not be appreciative?
It didn't take Sirius long to realize he wasn't alone. He saw the frightened looks of a couple house elves scurrying past him, and he soon saw the dark locks of his rather unpleasant cousin. He wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Now Bellatrix, just because no one likes you, doesn't mean you can make the house elves be your friends either. I'm pretty sure every species loathes your existence." He casually grabbed a pastry nearby and took a bite as if they were discussing the weather.

The house elves scurried around doing whatever house elves do leaving Bellatrix in peace, enjoying her late snack but soon enough that peace ended. Bellatrix froze with her spot with her spoon in mid air hoping maybe just maybe if she sat still he would go away. But Bellatrix was not that lucky her cousin stayed and again filled his face full a food. Before he put the pastry in his mouth, he threw what he must of thought was truth her way. A groan escaped her lips and she placed the spoon back into the bowl. Now she would have to deal with her cousin. Bellatrix rolled her eyes with a small sigh. “I don’t care Sirius, besides I pretty much. No I truly hate everyone anyways. So please choke and died.” In truth it hurt a little when Sirius said that. Bellatrix would never admit it, but everyone needs a friend.

Sirius couldn't help but grin at Bellatrix's groan. Anything to displease his cousin was enough to make him happy. He watched as she put her spoon into her soup, and he was pleasantly surprised that she didn't whip it at his face. Maybe this encounter wasn't going to be as horrible as he thought.
"I can't choke and die yet, sweet cousin, as you're still breathing," he said, simply. "Who would irritate you as much if I'm gone?"
The house-elves returned back to the two of them. Less returned to Bellatrix to fill her needs, and Sirius was soon surrounded. He accepted as much as he could carry.
"Well, it's been fun - well, actually it hasn't, but I must depart," Sirius announced. He had to remember that there were no credible witnesses around if she decided to randomly shank him with her wand. He nodded in a sarcastic fashion, turned on his heel and began to walk rather quickly out - only for his foot to catch on a pastry that one of the house-elves had dropped in their nervousness. Sirius slid, and due to his hands being full, couldn't catch himself. He ended up flat on his back, and his head slammed hard off the concrete floor. For a moment, everything went black.

Bellatrix temper was very short but she was trying to improve that but with Sirius Black around that was next to impossible. Bellatrix looked at her cousin with one of her death glares but it softened into a small smile. “You’re right, stick around a little longer. I would miss you cousin, besides I rather it be me killing you. Just so I know you are really dead.”
Even when the house elves came back her eyes never lift Sirius, she pay no attention to the one house elf who was asking if she needed something else or was finished. She just stared plotting his death in her mind, the thought made her smile.
“Finally” She replied when Sirius announced that he was leaving. Bellatrix could finally finish her meal in peace than head up to bed. She turned back to her soup once Sirius was heading to the door. In the corner of her eye Bellatrix seen Sirius fall to his back side. She busted into laughter at the sight not even taking a second to see if he was okay. "I just may get what I want!" She continued to laugh knocking her soup over.

It took him a moment to come to, but when he did, he swore he heard the ending of the ugly noise that was Bellatrix's laughter. With pastries everywhere, he brought his hand to the back of his head and said, "What was that noise? Have the baby Mandrakes escaped?"
Sirius tried to get to his feet, but the moment he stood back up again, he collapsed to his feet. He realized that out of anyone in the school he could be in a room with while not being able to stand up, it would be Bellatrix. "I hope I'm making a good show for your dinner." he spat, now beginning to get angry. He knew if the roles were reversed, he'd probably just step over Bellatrix, but her not helping him wasn't what was making him angry: it was the fact that he was embarrassing himself in front of the person he disliked most at Hogwarts, or at least second behind Snivellus.

Bellatrix’s stomach was hurting so much from laughing too hard. It was just too funny, seeing her cousin lying on the floor like that. Her laughter continued even though Sirius was slowly getting back up and speaking again. She only stopped when she had heard baby Mandrakes Bellatrix had almost missed what he said because she was laughing so loud. Bellatrix stopped at once and glared at her cousin Sirius, her lip twitched. She watched in silence as he tried to get back up on his feet and failed. He spoke again asking her if this was a good show. A wicked smile crept upon her face as she watched her cousin. Bellatrix pulled out her wand and pointed it at Sirius. “It is going to be a whole lot better.” Her wand created a while bolt of light as she performed densaugeo

Bellatrix's abrupt laughter was almost enough to give Sirius his strength to rise again - almost. It did allow him to grab his wand, however, and point it at Bellatrix just as she did the same to him. His anger was enough that he didn't even care about the trouble he'd be in.
"Levicorpus!" he just managed to get out right before Bellatrix's hit him, and he immediately began to feel his front teeth begin to grow. It was a typical spell used by those of the shallow persuasion. He tried to keep his anger under control, but it allowed him to grab a counter and drag himself up and lean against it. "Hey, I think I'm almost as ugly as you like this," he stated as he felt his now beaver-like teeth with his fingers.

Bellatrix knew that once she had cast the spell towards her dear cousin Sirius, he would quickly retaliate with one of his own but she was not expecting one that she was not familiar with. Suddenly with force her right leg was lifted right from underneath her and with Bellatrix’s one leg hanging there like a troll grabbing her and dangling her in mid air. Her hair and robe fall over her face. She was screaming with panic in her voice, Bellatrix was scared and was right to be. Sirius had disarmed her and she had no idea how to get out of this spell. When she got flung into the air Bellatrix had let go of her wand and now It was sitting on the floor. “Shut up and get me down!” She screamed.
She was a complete mess, Bellatrix had let her evil cousin get the best of her. But Bellatrix knew as soon as she got her hands on her own wand that Sirius was going to die. She wanted to curse his sorry arse to death. The house-elves stared and soon laughed at the sight of Bellatrix hanging upside down. This made Bellatrix even more furious, "I will kill you all, I swear!"

That was the major problem with these particular cousins: they were so opposite that in many ways they were so alike. Unfortunately for both of them, it meant that they were good at duelling, and it was difficult to tell who was the better. It wasn't that Sirius particularly enjoyed seeing Bellatrix hanging upside down in the air (really only because he didn't care to see his cousin's knickers), but it did feel good to know that her wand was a good distance away from her.
"Nah, I don't think I will," Sirius said (to the best of his ability in his condition) as he took the opportunity to grab her wand. His head was still a little dizzy, but he wasn't sure if it was from the fall or the giant teeth beginning to wear his head down. Sirius then left the kitchens, not caring how she would get down. He kicked her wand off into the darkness, sure that she would be able to find it. Only when Sirius threw his Invisibility Cloak over himself did he realize that he couldn't in good conscience leave her there, mainly in fear for the house elves' lives (something that Sirius didn't usually care about, but when it was Bellatrix vs. house elves, the elves were the winners). He pointed his wand at himself and tried to mumble the counter-curse, but it took a dozen tries because of his mumbling. Finally, he pointed at the entrance of the kitchens door and allowed Bellatrix down. He hoped she fell hard.
Knowing she wouldn't be able to find him under his Cloak made him feel safe. He hated to admit it, but it felt like a great weight was lifted from him. Bellatrix was the only one in the school who he attempted to not cross if at all possible, mainly because Sirius wasn't completely sure who the winner would be in the outcome. He began to head back to Gryffindor tower, feeling guilty that he hadn't been able to collect the goods for his friends.
