Kjersti lay flopped out across a sofa in the common room with five different colors of nail polish next to her. She was trying to paint her nails different colors but a group of kids were playing exploding snap near by and every time there was a bang she would jump out of her skin and sent a line of color down her fingers. After about the sixth attempt at the same name she let out an annoyed shriek of frustration. "Do you have to play that here!? Urgh!" She flopped back down dramatically. "Elise! I think I'm having a mid-life crisis here!"Elise Madley

Elise frowned slightly as another bang went off. She would jump a bit every time that it happened so the parchment she was currently working on had quite a few words with strange lines stretching up the page. But she wasn’t the person to start yelling at others in the middle of the common room. She was too nice for that, though they were wearing her down to that point quickly. Luckily she didn’t have to be the one to say something because Kjersti yelled at them seconds later before flopping back onto the couch. “Oh you are not. People are just being imbeciles in the common room instead of thinking about others.” Ellie lifted her eyes pointedly at the group of people Kjersti had just yelled at, hoping they could take the hint. “Want me to do that? I might be able to keep a steadier hand.” Ellie chuckled softly as she moved the parchment and book to the arm of the chair, her brows lifted in question.

Kjersti couldn't be the only one getting annoyed by the game that was going on in the common room. She couldn't be. There was so much noise and this was the time of night when students usually did things like work, or relax. How could you do either with that racket going on? "Is there anything wrong with chess? When did chess go out of fashion?"
“Oh you are not. People are just being imbeciles in the common room instead of thinking about others.”
"I am, too! And these nail are going to be the end of me." Yet again, Kjerst wiped the polish off, realizing then that half of the polish from one of her other nails had caught the remover as well, and she let out a dramatic sigh of frustration.
“Want me to do that? I might be able to keep a steadier hand.”
"Please. And let's hope the current quite lasts more than thirty seconds." If she heard one more explosion from that god forsaken game..!

Elise started to laugh quietly at Kjersti, shaking her head. “Perhaps they only do it to annoy you?” She lifted her brows at the other girl, doubting that was the case but she wouldn’t put it past anyone. Plus it was easy to set off the dramatics of Kjersti, something that Ellie had been known to do a time or two herself without meaning too. But she loved her best friend despite the over the top reactions that usually came from her. Elise shook her head at her best friend and pushed herself out of her chair. She plopped down on the couch next to Kjersta and stared at the different color nail polishes. “A different color on each nail?” Ellie picked up the first color and sent a glare at the kids who had finally decided to stop, at least she hoped they had. “Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if you broke a nail on one of their faces if it starts back up.” She grinned as she turned her attention back to Kjersti. Elise pulled Kjersti’s hand forward and set it on her knee so she could see it better. She bent down, her face hovering over the other girl’s hand as she attempting the first polish color. She might hit one of the other people herself if they made her mess this up.

“Perhaps they only do it to annoy you?”
Kjersti looked over at her best friend as she moved towards her from the seat she'd previously been in. "Of course they do it on purpose. There's no perhaps about it." They probably didn't decide 'hey let's annoy Kjerst today' but still, it felt that way, because if anyone was ever going to do something annoying it was going to be when she was around.
“A different color on each nail?”
"Of course." She allowed her hand to be pulled onto Elise's knee, and then shifted on the couch, lounging comfortably. "If they start that noise again there'll be more than a broken nail to worry about. Why can't they just sit in their dorm to do something like that? Or go sit in a corridor somewhere. Urgh!" Some kids were just so inconsiderate.

Ellie grinned and shook her head. “Or maybe they just wanted to have a bit of fun after classes?” She lifted her brow though the smile on her lips said that she didn’t believe that one bit. There were plenty of other places that they could be loud, including their dorm as Kjersti suggested. They could easily go play in the center of their dorm and be just as loud away from them, which would allow the two girls to have peace and quiet for a bit. “What? Are you going to break one of their noses or something?” Elise gave Kjersti a look that said ‘you wouldn’t’ though she wouldn’t put much beyond her best friend. It was one of the reasons that she loved her so much. The girl didn’t take no for an answer and she did what she wanted, regardless of what other people thought. It was something that Elise could never do herself. Ellie finished the first nail and moved on to the second, switching colors. “One down without interruption.” She grinned. “Also, can we please go find some decent men to stare at soon? I’m tired of looking at the ones in our house.” She laughed as she said it, mostly teasing though she was never against staring at cute guys.

“Or maybe they just wanted to have a bit of fun after classes?”
Kjersti narrowed her eyes to a glare in Ellie's direction, though there was no malice behind it, of course. "If they want fun they can have fun, but annoying me at every change they get is not having fun." So perhaps she was easily annoyed at things, but that didn't matter - these kids shouldn't be playing exploding snap in the middle of the room.
“What? Are you going to break one of their noses or something?”
"Don't tempt me. If I hear another one of those stupid things explode we'll find out exactly what get broken." So far there was silence, and Elise had managed to get to color one of her nails without a shock sending it all over the place.
“One down without interruption. Also, can we please go find some decent men to stare at soon? I’m tired of looking at the ones in our house.”
"Have you noticed how all those dark and brooding Slytherins are actually some of the hottest guys around here? It's just not fair. Why do the bad ones have to be so hot?" There were other decent looking guys, of course, but there was something in those Snakes that just had that edge...
